Personal information of voters in up to 25 ridings, including several Northern Ontario ridings, may have been compromised. That’s the result of Elections Ontario losing two unprotected memory sticks. In the North, voter information from ridings that could be affected include Algoma Manitoulin, Timiskaming Cochrane, Nickel Belt and Nipissing. The memory sticks contain the full name of voters, birthdays, where they live and in some cases, if they voted. Because there’s the risk of identity theft if the sticks fall into the wrong hands, Elections Ontario wants voters to monitor personal statements from sources like the government and banks to see if there’s any unusual activity.
