Six Track and Field Athletes From PSHS Going to OFSAA

Student athletes from Parry Sound High School will be competing at provincial for Track and Field.  On Wednesday, athletes from around Georgian Bay travelled to compete in the regional meet where six competitors from Parry Sound placed high enough to compete at OFSAA.  Justin Dawson will compete in the 400 and 800 meter races, Josh Badger will compete in the 800 meter, Aiden Dermenjian will compete in javelin, Lauren Nawroth will compete in shot put and javelin, Ally Weeks will compete in long jump and triple jump, and Emily Beirnes will compete in triple jump.  The students will continue to train with coaches Mr. Nichol and Mrs. Badger for OFSAA being held in Oshawa from June 6th through June 8th.

Elementary School Slo-Pitch Tournament Cancelled Today

Weather has cancelled today's junior and intermediate elementary school Slo-pitch tournament.  The tournament was supposed to take place in Humphrey and at the Kinsmen today, but due to forecasted rain and thunderstorms this afternoon, the tournament has been cancelled.  There is no word yet on when the tournament will be rescheduled for.

Parry Sound High School Hosting Track and Field Championships

 It's a full day of track and field in Parry Sound.  The Muskoka-Parry Sound Track and Field Championships are being held at the Parry Sound High School today.  Winners of individual events qualify for the Georgian Bay regional championships held next week.

Local Men's Slo-Pitch Team Wins Barrie Tournament

Baseball season is here and one local team was ready to play.  The Muskoka North Stars men's slo-pitch team travelled to Barrie on Saturday to compete in their first tournament of the year.  The team went undefeated through the round robin, giving them a bye into the finals.  In the final, it was a close game the whole way and the North Stars would eventually win by one run.

Phantoms End Season With Tournament Win

The Parry Sound Phantoms ended the season on a winning note.  The ladies team was in North Bay for a tournament over the weekend and beat one of the host teams 4-2 in the final.  Stephanie Meriam scored all 4 goals and the team got great goaltending from Jenna Pletzer.

Parry Sound Girls Invited to Tryout for Huntsville Sting

The Huntsville Girls Hockey Association is holding tryouts next week for the next season.  There will be tryouts for Atom, Peewee, Bantam and Midget.  The association is looking for girls from Huntsville, Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Parry Sound, and all communities in between.  Players are asked to bring a permission to skate form if they were registered with the OWHA last season.  Tryouts are happening April 27th at the Rotary Place Arena in Orillia on 100 University Avenue.
