Police ID Killbear Provincial Park Crash Victim

West Parry sound OPP have identified the victim of Friday’s night’s Killbear Provincial Park crash. They say a 2003 Buick Century being operated by an 18 year old male of Hanmer, ON, was leaving the park with five passengers aged between 17 and 18 years old. The driver lost control and collided with a tree. Speed was a contributing factor. Alcohol was not involved. One passenger received non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the West Parry Sound Health Centre. A second passenger was air lifted to a hospital in Toronto for further treatment. 17 year old Claire Louise Philp of Churchill, ON, was pronounced dead at the scene. Charges are pending and any witnesses should contact police
