Women in Northeastern Ontario are being encouraged to get a pap test. This week marks National Cervical Cancer Awareness Week and healthcare providers in the northeast are joining the Sudbury Regional Hospital and the Cancer Prevention and Screening Network in the campaign for the first time. All women in the northeast are being asked to get public pap tests which will be available at over 40 different health care clinics across the region. This campaign will improve accessibility to a vital test for women who may not have a health care provider or face other barriers. The Pap test is an excellent way for women to prevent cervical cancer because it is the only way to detect abnormal cells in the cervix which, if left untreated, could develop into cancer.
