Hamilton police are searching for a number of teenagers after a young boy was mugged. According to reports, the 12-year-old was walking near King Street East last night when five boys around the age of fifteen approached him. They’re said to have attacked him, stealing his cell phone and money before running away. The victim made it home and told his parents and the police were called. The Detective’s Office is currently looking into the issue.

Ontario’s liquor stores will stay open today. There was fear that union workers would strike starting at midnight, but they have reached a tentative agreement with the LCBO. Many Ontario residents have been panic buying as it wasn’t clear if they would be able to get liquor over the Victoria Day weekend. The deal was agreed on just hours before last night’s strike deadline.

A Brantford woman has organized a vigil in honour of a local man. 32-year-old father Tim Bosma of Ancaster was found dead earlier this week. Now, Leanne L’Heureux is inviting residents to attend tonight’s vigil to light a candle in Bosma’s memory and show respect for his family. A donation pool has been set up for people looking to help his loved ones, and contributions can be made at any TD bank. The ceremony is expected to bring hundreds of people, and will take place tonight at 7 O’clock in Brantford’s Harmony Square.

A Canadian icon has finished a near impossible challenge. Double amputee Spencer West spent the last 11 days going 300 kilometres from Edmonton to Calgary, partly on his hands and partly by wheelchair. The point of the journey was to raise money for Free the Children, an organization trying to provide thousands of people in developing countries with clean drinking water. West added that he wants Canadians to understand how far people in those nations have to walk just so they can drink.

Hamilton police are searching for a man following a pharmacy robbery. On Tuesday evening of last week a suspect entered the store near Queenston Road, pulling a balaclava over his head to hide his face. He demanded the clerk hand over such drugs as Fentanyl, Oxycotin and Hydromorph. The employee cooperated before the suspect fled the scene. Following an investigation police are now searching for 31-year-old Jameson Wyatt Cooper of Hamilton.
