The SPCA has some advice for dog owners. If you’re planning weekend fireworks: leave the dog at home. The society says the long weekend fireworks are not for your dog it could panic the dog and it could end up biting someone, maybe even you. They advise you to leave your dogs at home but if you’re holding a celebration in your backyard, keep the dog indoors in a dark and quiet place.

North East LHIN Looking at New Transportation Models
Wednesday, 15 May 2013 06:17
Valerie Isaac
Big spaces mean added challenges when it comes to transferring non-urgent patients between facilities and communities in the vast North East LHIN region. Right now, almost all non-urgent inter-facility transfers in the region are provided through Emergency Medical Services (EMS). However, since the transport of non-urgent patients is usually between hospitals, or between hospitals and nursing homes, it generally doesn’t need to tie up EMS urgent care. A new transportation model is being explored. The NE LHIN has funded three transportation pilot projects that are now in progress. Each pilot involves a different model of patient transportation service. The review is to lead to a new business model for non-urgent patient transfer that is timely, safe and cost-effective. The review is expected to be completed later this year.

Who would have thought that a moose would need help? But that’s exactly what happened early this morning in Kapuskasing. A young bull moose somehow got behind a fence in the Brunetville Road area and had to be helped out. Town employees and the OPP responded to the call of the distressed moose and escorted it to make sure it made its way to safety in the bush. The video can be seen on Moose FM’s facebook page.
