A Bill that boosts Northern Ontario’s forestry industry has cleared another hurdle. The Bill just passed an all party committee by a 3-2 vote and now goes for third and final reading. The two negative votes were from Liberal MPPs from Southern Ontario. Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli proposed the Bill which allows for wood-frame buildings up to six storeys which is an increase from the current four storey limit. Fedeli says it’s unfortunate that the McGuinty Liberals from the south don’t see how his Bill can create much needed jobs for the north.
