The results are in. According to our esteemed rodents, we’re in for another 6 weeks or more of cold, snowy weather. It’s all fun and games of course. According to research, groundhogs don’t get it right any more than we could. But it is fun to think these furry little creatures can actually predict the weather depending on whether or not they see their silhouette isn’t it?
Not according to some people. This morning I was reading comments made on the prediction story posted on CBC’s website. Most had a laugh or called BS on the predictions but a few were downright against anyone even covering this story. One poster said that in this day and age it’s fairly juvenile to cover a story about groundhogs and that it isn’t worth the time of day. I wonder if he’s been getting up over and over reliving groundhog day just like Bill Murray did in the movie because he seemed in about as good a mood as Murray did halfway through his conundrum.
No it’s not hard hitting news but sometimes we need a happy or interesting story in our lives to remind us of good things. So many bad things happen and it’s nice to see something that can put a smile on our faces from time to time. So let us continue to talk about groundhogs and their powers of prediction. Plus, it’s a tradition and one shouldn’t mess with tradition.
