A very generous bequest will ensure a positive future for a park in North Bay. Chan Armstrong was a beloved civil servant in the gateway city. He passed away a couple of years ago and his wife has also since died. The executor of Kay Armstrong's estate says that $120,000 has been left to be used to support Armstrong Park. Executor Mary Lou Tomlinson says it meant the world to the local family that park was named after Chan Armstrong a number of years ago, and this bequest confirms that.

The North Bay Heritage Gardeners want you, if you either know about gardening or are willing to learn. The local green-thumb group is into its 16th year of taking care of all the beautiful flowers you see near North Bay's waterfront. There are more flower beds to take care of with the new underpass and they need to grow their volunteer base. To offer your help, call 705-472-4006, or find the Heritage Gardeners on Facebook.

North Bay is playing a pivotal role in connecting the rest of Northern Ontario. The Executive Director of the Blue Sky Economic Growth Corporation says they received FEDNOR funding to complete a study of broadband capabilities across the entire region. Susan Church explains that the compiled data will be reviewed, and can pinpoint what new or improved infrastructure and technology is needed where. That could eventually have high speed internet accessibility for more, if not all, of the North.
