Changes to OLG Good News for North Bay

E-mail Print PDF

Some changes to the province's OLG expansion plans could bode well for cities like North Bay, awaiting a potential new casino in the community. Since premier Wynne took over from Dalton McGuinty, there has been a change to the funding formula.  Previously North Bay did not get proceeds from any table games that would be installed, but that has changed and we'd now see a four per cent return. As well, the formula for slot machine revenue has changed.  Instead of five per cent of revenues on slots machines, there is now a sliding scale. This scale provides 5.25 per cent to the city on the first $65-million and it reduces on amounts greater.
