Meet Our Announcers

Brian James

I was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and came over to Canada as a wee Scotsman on one of the final voyages of the Empress of Canada cruise ship (Mum wasn't a big fan of planes). A 'smart alec' in training since I could speak appeared to be the ideal foundation for either being on stage, being in front of the camera or being behind the mic. The Mic it was. I attended (and graduated) Seneca College School of Communication Arts with a Radio and Television Broadcasting diploma. The journey began with a position as an operator/producer at a Toronto radio station followed by multiple stations and various voice work along the way. The play known as 'Life' has had it's twists and turns and ups and downs and although some cast members have changed... the stage remains the same and I currently love life with a 'rekindled' college sweetheart and our matching his and her teenagers. Life is a playground on-air and off-air in beautiful Muskoka. Tune us in and then hang out with me weekday afternoons on The Moose 105.5

Ahhh...ouch! Summer Bites!

E-mail Print PDF

A wet spring has brought us a healthy batch of biting bugs.  As I compared biting and swarming stories this morning with Jenn Rock (she's new to Blackflies and is yet to encounter Deer and Horse flies), I happened upon an article from Penny Caldwell and the gang at Cottage Life Magazine about warding off 5 cottage bugs.  It's a great little reminder for the Veteran bug swatters and an excellent guide to survival for the Newbies.  Enjoy! Katie's Story...

E-mail Print PDF

We were in a line in Florida buying regular sun & fun stuff when we struck up a conversation with what appeared to be another Canadian escaping the winter grasp.  She too was on vacation but their Sunshine was coupled with a 'cloud' that follows them around 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  Her daughter Katie was there on a 'Make a Wish' foundation trip.  Their story is heart wrenching, heart warming, and with your help and awareness, NOT without hope.  The website has many tabs, please take a moment to click on them all and hopefully do more than just read about it.  There's also an event there for you country music enthusiasts out there, but if you remember Tara Oram from Canadian Idol, you don't have to love country to love her music.  Thanks for taking a few minutes to read about this little known cause and more specifically, sweet Katie Keeping.
