Apparently we’ve hit a nerve in the Big City. Yesterday, Toronto Star columnist Bob Hepburn took aim at the 50-million dollar G8 Legacy Infrastructure Fund and all the money being spent in Muskoka and Parry Sound. He even called our M.P. Tony Clement the “King of pork barrel Politics”. Hepburn says it’s dubious to pretend that some of the projects in Kearney, Burk’s Falls and Parry Sound have anything to do with next year’s G8 Summit in Huntsville. Asked if he was prepared for this bad publicity, Clement says its okay and although he welcomes the right to dissent that doesn’t mean their right in their views. Clement adds he makes no apologies for representing his constituents and he says no matter which way you slice it the G8 and the millions it brings with it in Government funding, it is creating jobs and helping Muskokans weather the economic storm.
