The waiting game continues for the community of Bala. Last night at District Council members of the community against a proposed hydroelectric station on the North Falls were optimistic a parkland designation would save the area. The group also suggests the south falls be used if the project happens to go through. Ministry of Natural Resources Area Supervisor Trevor Griffin says the Bala Falls area is too small to be designated parkland, and the north falls is the only option being considered for the project. The group will continue to wait for the Environmental Screening Report due from Swift River Energy. Griffin says he believes the process has been delayed because the company is considering feedback from the community.
