BUSH FIRE RESCUE: Fire and Police rescued a man who became trapped while battling this fire yesterday afternoon. Fire crews will return today to finish off the blaze. (Photo Supplied by the Huntsville Fire Department)

Huntsville and Port Sydney fire crews were called to a bush fire and rescue Saturday afternoon. The call came in at 4:30pm that a man had fallen over a cliff while trying to battle a bush fire. When crews arrived, they found an injured man trapped on a 3 foot ledge half-way down the rock face and about 4 acres of fire. While crews battled to contain the blaze, they also worked to rescue the man. He was finally rescued shortly before 10pm by Trenton Search and Rescue Crews, with assistance from the OPP's Emergency Response Team. He was transported to Huntsville Hospital with minor injuries. Fire crews returned to the scene today to finish putting out the fire. At one point, waterbombers were part of the effort.
